Story telling intensive

Spend a day learning how to communicate and tell stories of all kinds through various creative art forms.

Why come to this intensive?

“You’re never going to kill Storytelling, because it is part of the Human plan. We come with it.” Margaret Atwood, author or ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’.

Story. We all have them. We love telling them we love listening to them. Stories of self, stories of others and stories of the other. But what is storytelling? What does that mean in your particular discipline? Do you paint? Do you sing or write songs? Play characters or make films? It’s all story. During this intensive we will look at the many forms of story and storytelling.

In this intensive we will look at empathy in story and the power of perspective. We will investigate the story teller in you and how we can develop it. We will also look at what it means to be prophetic or as the marketplace calls it; being ‘cutting edge’ or ‘original’ with our ideas.

An important part of storytelling is finding your voice as a creative. We look at ways to identify your voice, your sound, your story.

Be yourself; everyone else is taken.” - Unknown

We will look at and listen to different stories and you will bring to the class to share, examples of what you consider to be good storytelling. This can be anything from paintings, to a flash mob in Russia.

“We are, as a species, addicted to story. Even when the body goes to sleep at night, the mind stays up all night, telling itself stories.” - Jonathan Gottschall
