Leaders at the pinnacle of their careers are often plagued by disappointment; “I was expecting more, there’s something missing.” Having been troubled by the same sentiment in my own career, I am searching for solutions to bring to my clients in their leadership development.

It was Pat Antcliff (previous C3 College Principal) who pointed me in the direction of Night College. I found what I was looking for. In leadership-speak, it’s the mindset of the leader that determines their sense of fulfilment, meaning that a sense of ministry and serving others is essential in creating vision, mission and purpose in a “successful” life. Who knew that?!

My favourite subjects have been the Leadership classes. I’ve been surprised at the relevance of the Old Testament course, in illustrating principles for success in life and business. The lecturer, Ps Mark Saundercock’s presentation of the OT, needs to be seen to be believed!

To my surprise, I discovered at Night College that there are principles of faith that lead to clear outcomes and how to apply these principles. There is a meeting point between the journey of faith and, say, the documentation of a business plan. My perspective on planning in general has radically shifted.

This year my goal is to tune the language of Christian leadership and ministry to the business language of vision, mission and purpose, to be able to better share inspiration from the Bible. I thank God for this opportunity, and I thank my tutors for their patience.

I first heard about Night College during church news at C3 Oxford Falls. I wasn’t really interested at first because I had just resigned from work to be a full-time mum to my first born. It would be a juggle taking on Night College. However, a good friend of mine, convinced me to join her. I prayed about it, spoke to my husband who agreed to babysit as it was only 1 night/week. In 2014 I enrolled, and studied for the full 3 years.

Looking back, I have learnt so much from such amazing lecturers who have helped open my eyes to the endless truths and revelations found in God’s word. I have made amazing friends; we have prayed, praised, wept and shared in the midst of encountering the tangible presence, power and love of God in class. I have been challenged and encouraged in my faith by the many testimonies of students and teachers alike.

Night College isn’t just about assessments and reading material. It is a real-time adventure of finding yourself in Christ, discovering and appreciating our gifts and differences, and ultimately all uniting as one body.

In 2018, my husband Con and I decided to begin C3 Night College together. Each Monday evening, we loved the opportunity to learn together in a small tutorial group and talk about the Old Testament characters and OT history.  The group activities are just perfect for stepping into the treasure of knowledge and understanding about the Bible that Night College offers. We look forward to the next two terms learning about New Testament characters and the events of the early church. Con and I look forward to a deeper level of knowledge and understanding about the Bible and how we can apply it to our own lives today. Please come and join us! C3 Night College is so much fun.
